IT ALL STARTED IN 1911
My grandfather, John Love Thom, opened his first grocery store in Northeast Harbor, Maine at the age of twenty. Over the years, small independent grocery stores like his all but vanished. I was inspired to create a modern new neighborhood grocery with an old-school twist. The first Austin Thom’s Market opened in 2007 on Barton Springs Road. There are now three locations, including East Riverside and Burnet Road. As a tribute to my grandfather, every store is anchored by an authentic, antique grocery counter, each over 100 years old!
LOCAL: This is the word that defines us. You’ll find everything from Green Cart breakfast tacos to our own Thom’s Blend from Anderson’s Coffee.
